Wagner Treble Concert Choir
The Wagner Treble Concert Choir (WTCC) is one of the two major choral ensembles at Wagner College, Staten Island. This women’s choir, comprised of 16-25 singers, specialises in repertoire composed for trebles, as well as classics arranged for women’s voices.
In recent years, the WTCC has performed Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, excerpts from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, as well as excerpts and choruses from the opera: Macbeth, Dido and Aeneas, The Marriage of Figaro, and La Traviata. Early music juxtaposed with 20th century and new works are a specialty; sometimes profound, sometimes humourous, but always with the pure sound of women’s voices.
Recent highlights include a 2014 collaboration with the Staten Island Philharmonic, Regina Opera and Voyces in the opera Carmen, and a 2015 concert devoted to works by women composers spanning over 900 years.
