Who We Are

orchestra headonThe Centre Symphony Orchestra is one of New York City's oldest community orchestras. Under the leadership of renowned conductors, such as Music Director José Alejandro Guzmán and Associate Conductor Scott Jackson Wiley, and featuring highly regarded young professional soloists, including a few who went on to big careers, such as Gil Shaham, Sarah Chang, Fred Sherry and Marc-André Hamelin, the Centre Symphony Orchestra rehearses weekly between October and May on Tuesday evenings at Turtle Bay Music School, 244 East 52nd St., and performs three concerts annually in St. Peter's Church, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street, in midtown Manhattan. Our guiding vision, championed by our founder Jon Brodsky, is to be open to qualified music students and adults of all ages willing to join our congenial mix of enthusiastic amateurs and accomplished professional musicians who learn and grow and share in the joy of music-making for family, friends and fellow New Yorkers.
