Here are the programs from some of our past concerts. We hope that you were able to join us, and we hope to see you at future concerts.

Concert, Wednesday, May 9, 2018

Photograph of Johannes BrahmsPlease join us Wednesday, May 9, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. for an evening of great music as we conclude the performance season at Saint Peter’s Church, led by Associate Conductor, Scott Jackson Wiley. We open the concert with the joyous Brahms Symphony #3.

After the pause, we will conclude with Beethoven's triple concerto in C major, Op. 56, when we will be joined by violinist Muneko Otani, cellist Elizabeth Anderson, and pianist Kaoru Fukuda.

Concert, Thursday March 8th , 2018

Gustav HolstMusic Director José Alejandro Guzmán will lead the CSO on Thursday, March 8th at 8:00 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Church for our second concert of the season.

We will open the evening's program with the Iolanthe Overture by Sir Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert & Sullivan fame). This will be followed by Sir Edward Elgar's Sea Pictures featuring guest soloist Alison Bolshoi, mezzo soprano.

Following the interval, the concert will conclude with Symphony in F, “Cotswold” by Gustav Holst.

Concert, Thursday, December 14, 2017

Edvard GriegJoin the CSO on December 14th, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at Saint Peter's Church for our 57th season. Our program will feature great classical masterworks, as well as the best of modern composition.

We will begin the season, led by music director, José Alejandro Guzmán, with a world premiere, Overture in Eb, by Howard Fox. This will be followed by Beethoven's Symphony #2 in D major.

After the pause, we will conclude with the Piano concerto in A minor, by Edvard Grieg, performed by Peiwen Chen. We look forward to seeing you.

Oil Painting of Franz Schubert by Wilhelm August Rieder 1875Please join us Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. for an evening of great music as we conclude the performance season at Saint Peter’s Church, led by music director, José Alejandro Guzmán. We open the concert with our brass section performing Canzon Duodecimi Toni a8 by Giovanni Gabrieli, followed by the Schumann Cello Concerto in A minor featuring our guest soloist Natalia Galebsky. After the pause, we will conclude with the seldom performed Schubert Symphony in C major [Grand duo], orchestrated by Joseph Joachim.

Ludwig van BeethovenThe Centre Symphony Orchestra, led by Associate Conductor Scott Jackson Wiley, welcomes special guest soloist, violinist Candida Wiley, in a spring concert of 19th-century classics at Saint Peter’s Church on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. The evening opens with Ludwig van Beethoven’s brilliant and spirited Violin Concerto, Op. 61, in D Major, featuring special guest soloist, Candida Wiley, and, following the interval, concludes with Johannes Brahms’s sunny and romantic Symphony No. 2, Op. 73, in D Major.

Photo of Felix MendelssohnSpecial guests, Wagner Treble Concert Choir, join The Centre Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director José Alejandro Guzmán, in a winter concert of 19th-century classics at Saint Peter's Church on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. The programme opens with Felix Mendelssohn’s mercurial Overture and Excerpts from the Incidental Music to Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and, following the interval, concludes with César Franck’s majestic Symphony in D Minor. The performance of the Franck Symphony is dedicated to The Centre Symphony’s long-time principal oboist, David Lurie (1929-2016), who passed on January 5, 2016.

Portrait of MozartSpecial guest artist, Pianist Peiwen Chen, joins The Centre Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director José Alejandro Guzmán, in a fall programme of symphonic classics at Saint Peter’s Church on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The concert opens with Richard Wagner’s intimate Siegfried Idyll, continues with Mozart’s majestic Symphony No. 31, K. 297, in D Major (“Paris”), and, following the interval, concludes with Brahms’s great Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15, in D Minor, featuring guest soloist Peiwen Chen.

Brilliant young soloist, cellist Clara Abel, joins The Centre Symphony Orchestra, led by Associate Conductor Scott Jackson Wiley, in a spring concert of 19th-century classics at Saint Peter’s Church on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The evening opens with Johannes Brahms’s dark and dramatic Symphony No. 1, Op. 68, in C Minor and, following the intermission, concludes with Antonín Dvořák's lyrical and spirited Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra, Op. 104, in B Minor, featuring special guest soloist Clara Abel.

Robert SchumannSpecial guest artist, pianist Kaoru Fukuda, joins The Centre Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director José Alejandro Guzmán, in a winter programme of 19th century classics at St. Peter’s Church on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The concert opens with Franz Schubert’s spirited Overture to Fierrabras, D. 796, continues with Frédéric Chopin’s virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 21, in F Minor, featuring guest soloist Kaoru Fukuda, and concludes with Robert Schumann’s colourful and impassioned Symphony No. 3, Op. 97, in E flat Major (“Rhenish”).
